Setting Bold Goals with HEART: Your Roadmap to Transformation

December 30, 20245 min read

As the year draws to a close, it's natural to reflect on where you've been and where you want to go. But beyond the typical resolutions and to-do lists lies a world of bold, transformative goals—the kind that push you to the edge of your comfort zone and force you to grow.

These aren’t your everyday tasks; these are the big dreams that make your palms sweat and your heart race. These are the goals that bring meaning and joy to your journey.

For me, bold goals have been a cornerstone of my personal and professional growth. This past year, they’ve propelled me to heights I hadn’t dared to imagine.

As I look toward 2025, I can’t help but feel excited about what’s ahead. The goals I set in the summer of 2024—ones that seemed almost impossible at the time—have not only become achievable but have also laid the foundation for a year of even bigger dreams.

So today, let’s talk about how you can set bold goals that align with your vision, using my HEART framework to guide the way.

The Power of Bold Goals

Before we dive into the framework, let me take you back to a pivotal moment for me. This summer, I had a dream of launching The Joy Work Members Club—a space where business owners could not only work on their businesses but also reconnect with their purpose. An extension of the original The Joy Work Club free community, I wanted a community where they could share their big dreams, find support, and discover joy in the process.

At first, the idea felt daunting. Would anyone join? Would they see value in what I was offering? Could I pull it off? The doubts were loud, but the vision was louder. And so, I took the leap. Today, that vision has blossomed into a thriving membership and community that’s even more rewarding than I imagined. The lesson? Bold goals are less about having all the answers and more about trusting your vision and taking that first courageous step.

Introducing the HEART Framework

The HEART framework is the foundation I use with my clients, members, and even in my own goal-setting. It ensures your goals are not only bold but also deeply aligned with your values and actionable in your day-to-day life.

Here’s how it works:

H - Honor Your Vision

Bold goals start with clarity.

What do you truly want?

What impact do you dream of creating?

Take a moment to envision your ideal future—whether it’s a year, five years, or even a decade from now. Don’t hold back. This is your chance to dream as big and as bold as you dare. Your vision is the foundation of everything.

E - Evaluate the Landscape

Once you’ve honoured your vision, it’s time to assess where you are right now.

What’s working?

What’s not?

What resources do you have, and where might you need support?

This honest evaluation helps you map a realistic path forward. Remember, every journey starts with understanding your starting point.

A - Align with Your Purpose

Goals that truly inspire you are those that align with your deeper purpose.

Ask yourself: Does this goal light me up?

Does it align with my values and vision?

If the answer isn’t a resounding yes, it’s time to tweak it. Alignment with your purpose ensures that every step you take feels meaningful and energising.

R - Reinforce with Courage

Pursuing bold goals means stepping outside your comfort zone, and that takes courage.

Here’s the truth: Confidence isn’t innate; it’s built through action.

Every time you take a courageous step, you gain the confidence to keep going. Break your goal into smaller, actionable steps and commit to one thing you can do this week to move forward.

T - Transform with Tenacity

Bold goals aren’t achieved overnight.

They require persistence, grit, and a willingness to show up consistently, even when it’s hard.

Remember, progress is often about the compound effect of small, consistent actions.

Stay the course, trust the process, and celebrate the wins—no matter how small—along the way.

Your Turn: Set a Bold Goal

Now that you’re familiar with the HEART framework, it’s time to put it into action.

Take a moment to reflect on one bold goal you want to achieve in 2025. Maybe it’s launching a new product, starting a podcast, hitting a revenue milestone, or investing in your personal growth.

Whatever it is, write it down, make it specific and measurable, and ensure it aligns with your vision.

Once you’ve identified your goal, break it into smaller steps.

What’s one thing you can do this week to start moving toward it?

And if you’re feeling brave, share your goal with someone who can cheer you on. Accountability can be a game-changer.

Finding Joy in the Journey

Bold goals aren’t just about achieving something big; they’re about the growth, joy, and transformation that come from stepping into what’s possible. They’re about embracing the messy middle, the uncertainty, and the challenges—and finding joy in the process.

As we step into a new year, remember that your journey is yours to shape. Whether you’re ready to hit the ground running in January or prefer to ease into your goals at your own pace, know that bold goals are about the dream, not the timeline. So dream big, take bold steps, and trust that you’ve got what it takes to make it happen.
